We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lawyer to join the in-house legal team at GO’s head office for GO IP Holdings, a subsidiary of GO p.l.c. In this role, you will primarily focus on legal matters related to subsidiaries and affiliates of GO p.l.c., such as corporate governance (including KYC), compliance, regulatory filings and day-to-day legal issues. You will also handle various regulatory paperwork, ensuring that the company’s subsidiaries adhere to industry regulations and legal requirements.

As a Lawyer, you will gain exposure to a wide range of legal issues within the telecommunications industry as well as the different sectors our subsidiaries operate within, working alongside experienced professionals in various fields and supporting the legal needs of the business while being mentored and supported by an enthusiastic team.

Does this sound like you? Here’s what you need to have to match our requirements:

  • University degree in Law and a thorough understanding of Maltese and EU Law.
  • Admission to practice law in Malta or eligible for qualification.
  • Fluency in English and Maltese.
  • 2-3 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both individually and collaboratively.
  • Ethical mindset and a proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.

  • Experience, a keen interest in or a disposition to practice in the areas of corporate law and regulatory compliance, telecommunications, digital and security law, subsidiary governance, intellectual property law, law of contract, litigation and/or data protection rules.

  • Excellent research, drafting, and legal analysis skills.

If this describes you, here’s a glimpse of what you will be doing in this position:

  • Subsidiary Legal Support:
    • Assisting in the formation of governance, and ongoing legal matters related to the company’s subsidiaries.
    • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and managing legal documents including shareholder agreements, intercompany agreements, and corporate resolutions.
    • Assisting in the licensing and management of GO IP Holding’s intellectual property portfolio.
    • Providing legal support for day-to-day operations of subsidiaries, including advising on debt collection, corporate compliance, internal governance, and corporate structure.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Assisting with the preparation and filing of regulatory documents related to the company’s subsidiaries, including filings with company and financial services regulatory authorities, government agencies, and industry bodies.
    • Monitoring and reporting on changes in regulations affecting the business and advising on necessary compliance actions.
    • Drafting and updating data protection and other policies, processes and documentation for the group of companies.
  • Legal Research & Advice:
    • Conducting legal research to support the development of company policies, strategies, and new initiatives.
    • Providing legal advice to internal teams on subsidiary matters, regulatory compliance, and governance best practices.
    • Collaborating with senior legal counsel to address complex legal issues impacting the group of companies.
  • Contract Management:
    • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and agreements related to subsidiary operations, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
    • Assisting in the management of contractual relationships with third-party vendors, customers, and partners.
  • General Legal Assistance:
    • Supporting the GO legal team in handling ad-hoc legal matters and projects as required.
    • Assisting with dispute resolution, legal filings, litigation.
    • Preparing reports for senior management.
